Botanical Name: Cymbopogon Martinii
Cymbopogon is from two Greek words meaning “boat” and “beard” referring to the large bract enclosing the flower spike. Palmarosa is native to South East Asia, particularly India but is now steamed distilled here in Northern Queensland, Australia.

Geraniol makes up for 80 – 95% of Palmarosa’s content and Geranyl Acetate derives from Geraniol. These constituents are great as a repellent against bugs, mosquitos, ticks and dust mites. They can even kill tiny parasitic worms found in fish. They can fight against bacteria and fungi. These compounds help stimulate cell growth and promote healing which can be effective for scars and to help fight free-radicals and balance dry, oily skin, also having inflammatory properties for the body.
Palmarosa also contains Linalool. Linalool is known for its ability to reduce stress and anxiety by calming the nerves also boosting the immune. It improves sleep quality leading to more energy the following day. It can reduce pain and ease inflammation lowering responses to injury or sickness. It is also know as an anticonvulsant. Linalool deters mosquitoes.
