Weekly Ritual for Caring for your feet

All the way down there at the other end of our body, maybe looked at, maybe we even bend down to at least once a day to inspect, hopefully at least once to wash, but there they are, like them or not, our very important feet. And they are important but maybe forgotten or not respected enough, for they hold a very crucial role in our daily lives.

Your foot bares a lot of weight, actually 1.5 times your body weight while you walk and up to 5 times when you run, being our natural shock absorbers. There are 26 bones in each foot, 19 muscles, 10 tendons and 107 ligaments. There are also 250,000 sweat glands.

Therefore, taking care of your feet can help with an over-all feeling of well-being and mood. If you are on your feet a lot, then you will benefit from looking after them.

I have a Friday night Ritual, that sometimes changes to Saturday night if I manage to score an evening out, but at least once a week my feet get treated to a foot spa soak in lovely scented bath salts or a spa bath bomb. I give them a little rub, bringing to them some circulation and then I coat them in a specially formulated oil, love the oily moist feeling, taking that crusty, dry dirty feeling away, then I wrap them up in some cotton socks and relax into a movie or a story with a sense of self-care and an accomplishment.

This is such a rewarding ritual to lay the stress and hard work of the week to rest or getting prepped for the week ahead.

Even better to experience, is someone else taking out the preparation, also having someone rub your feet for you (for some reason, when someone else does it, it always feels better). Either way the reward of taking care of your feet is extremely priceless.
